Of course I had to get kitties on the fleece I donate : )
First full week in this new year...CHECK! Honestly, we keep having great weeks together! The kiddos are taking on more responsibility, participating more, and WRITING more! I am really happy with how we have started the new year.
Two weeks from today starts Catholic Schools Week. We kick off the week with mass on Sunday. Everyone is encouraged to attend! We then have a fun-filled week planned! I just purchased fleece to donate for our blankets project. We make blankets for sick children. What a great way to support others and represent St. Mary.
Please don't ever hesitate to email with any concerns. I know we have great communication, but just want to remind you I am always here to talk!
Have a great week! MLK Day tomorrow=no school!
Love,
Mrs. Cacaccio
RELIGION:
We finished Chapter 12 this week about the third commandment. Students will have a quiz on Tuesday for Chapter 12. We will then start reviewing Unit 3 which deals with the first three commandments. The unit test will be next Tuesday, January 24th.
MATH:
Students took their Chapter 5 test on Friday. I was pleased with what I saw. Things to work on include divisibility rules, and checking our work to make sure our quotients are correct. I am SO proud of their hard work with division and it showed on the test.
ELA:
This week we read a legend in our anthology book. A lesson learned...treat others with respect and kindness. Students took a reading assessment on it on Friday.
This week we will read Scholastic News.
We WILL have a spelling list this week. I am going to take words from the articles and create a spelling list.
WRITING:
This week, we worked on a small writing project to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Students wrote their own dreams for themselves, families, country, world, and future. These kids are thoughtful and creative! They wrote their dreams on stars and decorated their own traced arm. Their arms are displayed in the hallway reaching up towards their star to remind us to "Reach for the stars."
SCIENCE:
We finished Lesson 1 about land forms. I have decided to combine Lessons 1 and 2 for a quiz instead of just Lesson 1. We will start Lesson 2 this week. Students will be "experts" on the lesson and will report a section back to the class. We will then play a game about weathering and eroding.
