These kids have my heart!
(Shout out to Grace who wasn't with us, but in our prayers!)
Have an amazing week!
Love,
Mrs. Cacaccio
RELIGION:
We worked on Chapter 22 with two more Beatitudes. Forgive others, wait to speak if you are upset, be patient when others don't understand--these ways can be extremely hard for us, but what God wants us to do for him and ourselves. Students will have a Chapter 22 quiz on Tuesday. I can't believe we are heading into May!
MATH:
We began Chapter 9, Fractions this week. We added and subtracted fractions with like denominators, then simplified when we needed. We then were introduced to improper fractions and spent two days working on changing them into whole or mixed numbers. We will continue this chapter this week.
ELA:
This week we read an anthology story--a folk tale. This was about a rattle snake who wasn't caring towards other animals. Desert woman created an animal to teach rattle snake a lesson. Sure enough, the rattle snake left the other animals alone and let them pass. Bravery, honesty, friendship= a strong character.
We will read a Scholastic News this week. I will give students a list of words that I create to review words they should be comfortable spelling.
We WILL have spelling words this week.
WRITING:
We will make more poems this week with other styles of poetry.
SCIENCE:
We finished the unit with Lesson 4--the life cycling of a flowering plant. We then had a leaf scavenger hunt and I was really surprised with the variety of leaves we saw out near the outdoor classroom! This week we will have a review for the Plants and Structure test. The test will be next Monday, May 1.
