This crazy, shorter week went by so fast! Have a great week and happy March! I can't believe it will be March. The kiddos and I were just talking about how fast the year is going!
Optional Parent/Teacher Conferences for the spring are being held as follows:
Tuesday, March 7th
Wednesday, March 8th
Thursday, March 9th
Thursday, March 2nd is Read Across America Day...Dr. Seuss' birthday! This is one of my favorite days of the year! If your child has a Dr. Seuss book that is his/her favorite, they can bring it in! I think I will take time for the kids to read to each other. I'm not sure when we will be able to meet with our prayer partners. This week we have LC Tuesday afternoon, Ash Wednesday mass, and first Friday mass, Race for Ed. pep rally, and stations! I do have some fun activities planned for Thursday though : ) Can't wait!
Love,
Mrs. Cacaccio
RELIGION:
We worked with Commandments 6 and 9 this week. Students worked on the Chapter 16 quiz with a partner and then we went over answers and had a discussion. We will start Chapter 17 this week! We have 17,18, and 19 of Unit 4. Then we will be onto our LAST unit : o
MATH:
Students took their perimeter, area, and volume quiz this week. We had a discussion on why labeling our answers and showing our work is SO, SO, SO important.
We will start Chapter 12 Division with 2-Digit Divisors on Monday.
ELA:
This week we read a Scholastic News a young girl who had the opportunity to be part of a sit-in in 1958. As part of writing, students wrote letters to Ayanna. I will be sending them in this week once we have our final drafts. What an inspiration!
This week we will read an anthology story (and Reader's Theater).
We WILL have a spelling list this week.
WRITING:
Students read their Animal Riddles writing pieces on Friday for a Trimester 2 speaking grade. They did SUCH a great job!
We will write our final draft letters for Ayanna Najuma and finish our "Best Part of Me" mini writing.
