Happy March! We had such a fun day on Thursday for Dr. Seuss' birthday. The kiddos found out it's my favorite day of the year! Celebrate reading!
Have a great week! Stay warm! We look forward to our Trimester 2 Publishing Party Celebration this Friday, March 10th!
Love,
Mrs. Cacaccio
RELIGION:
We worked through Chapter 17 this week. "Thou shall not steal." We discussed how much further this commandment goes beyond stealing. It comes down to honesty, truth, and respect. We will finish Chapter 17 and have a quiz towards the end of the week or the beginning of next week.
MATH:
Students have been really working hard this week with our new Chapter 12, Division with 2-Digit Divisors. We started off dividing by 2-digit divisors that are multiples of ten. We also looked at estimating 2-digit divisors. This week we will really get into the long division!
We have also started practicing flash cards for our basic math facts. This helps students SO, SO, SO, SO much when multiplying and dividing. If they can recall their basic math facts fast, they free up their working memory. This is also something students should be practicing over the summer. Xtra Math is awesome for this!
ELA:
This week we read an anthology story and reader's theater called "Ranita, the Frog Princess." It's a funny story which focuses on "being kind" as the theme. Students will perform this week and we will have a Scholastic News piece as well.
We WILL have a spelling list this week.
WRITING:
I read If I Ran the Zoo by Dr. Seuss this week. Students are in the process of creating their own animals and making a poem!
We still need to write our final draft letters for Ayanna Najuma and finish our "Best Part of Me" mini writing.

Let us know if you can make it!
SCIENCE:
We started our new unit, "Plant Structure and Function" this week. We made butter on Thursday and discussed friction and matter. Students then enjoyed the butter with some crackers and watched "The Butter Battle."
This week, we will continue with our new plant unit.
