As we were working on a poem activity on Friday, there was laughter and goofiness, and inspirational lines in the students' poems that I would never have thought of. I thought, "Wow. These kids make me smile and laugh every single day!"
As we continue our school year in May, please remind your child that we still have several weeks left. They should reflect on their effort and behavior. I have been trying to get the kiddos outside much more with the gorgeous weather. They also have plenty of opportunity to move around in the classroom. Some students have been coming in looking exhausted and it is proving to effect their day. Thank you for this consideration.
Have an amazing week!
Love,
Mrs. Cacaccio
RELIGION:
We have continued working with the Beatitudes with Chapter 23. We will finish 23 and head right into Chapter 24. I am not giving a quiz on Chapter 23, but will give a quiz on 24. Then it will be a review chapter and our last unit test!
MATH:
Students have been working diligently with our second fractions chapter. We have worked with improper fractions, least common multiple (LCM), and now we are practicing adding and subtracting fractions with uncommon denominators. The chapter test will be Friday. Students were given a chance to start working on a study guide on Friday. We will finish the chapter with "parts of a whole" and will then use word problems and practice problems to review before Friday.
ELA:
This week we read Scholastic News. The cover story was about how wild pigs are damaging grounds all over the U.S.! It's so interesting to see the unique problems that are trying to be solved. Problems we wouldn't even think could be problems!
We will read an anthology story this week and use the story to research a national park of each student's choosing.
We WILL have spelling words this week.
WRITING:
We will continue with poetry this week, exploring different poets and styles.
SCIENCE:
